The idea of buying a vineyard in Italy was born in 2008. The dream came true, and in June 2009 we turned the key and opened the door to our great vineyard project – Cascina Castagna.
From being an old and abandoned farm winery, the farm is now renovated and beautiful, with 4 holiday apartments for rent, swimming pool and a winery. We warmly welcome you to Cascina Castagna for your vineyard holiday here in the beautiful region of Piedmont in North Italy!

We are Hilde and Morten, a Norwegian couple who moved to Italy in 2009. We wanted to do something else in life, so we quit our jobs in Norway, sold the house and purchased this old farm winery in Calosso, Piedmont, Italy. After renovating it and building holiday apartments for tourists, we’re now both hosts and winemakers here at Cascina Castagna. And we love it! We’re happy to help our holiday guests discover this beautiful wine region of Italy and all it has to offer. We can’t wait to welcome you to one of our holiday apartments – in the heart of Piedmont!

Winemaking
From the very beginning of our vineyard project, we have dreamt about making our own wine in our own winery. The whole process from growing the grapes, to harvesting and to making the wine. In 2015 we renovated the old winery at Cascina Castagna. Now we’re making all our wines here. Our goal is to make wine of high quality in small quantities. We don’t always follow the mainstream, we like to try new things, always aiming for the best result.
