Our wines

Here at Cascina Castagna we make our wines in our own winery. We are a small winery, making various wines in low quantity. The wines are sold directly to the customers here at the farm winery.

We proudly launched our very first wine in 2010 – a Barbera d’Asti made with the grapes from the September 2009 harvest. We will always remember that happy feeling of opening the very first bottle our own wine …

The Cascina Castagna logo

Our logo – the green Y – symbolizes several things. The winery’s name and location, as well as the winery project itself are factors in the logo’s design.

The name of the vineyard, Cascina Castagna, means the “Chestnut farm”. The farm winery is located in a part of Calosso called Castagna. When we bought the farm, there was an 80 year old chestnut tree in the courtyard.  The logo thus abstractly represents a chestnut tree.

Another aspect of the logo is Y for Ypsilon. Ypsilon was our “code name” on the vineyard project before we moved to Italy. The Y ‘symbolizes a crossroads where one must choose to follow the narrow or the wide path. The logo is also used in the design of our wine labels, with different colors. Some thinks it looks like a wine glass or a vine. And surely a lot of other things!
